Univ. of Texas Arlington Jazz Combo 1
The jazz studies program offers several jazz combos. Membership is open to any currently-enrolled student at 1: UTA, regardless of major. In these small groups, students are able to work on interaction and improvisation in an intimate setting. With a blend of classic small group repertoire, jazz standards, and student compositions and arrangements, these groups are the cornerstone of students' training in jazz studies. In addition to performing at the Late Night Jazz Sampler each semester, the jazz combos often perform at on-campus events, local and regional functions, the Fort Worth Jazz by the Boulevard Festival, and much more. The jazz combos are directed by the jazz faculty and jazz graduate teaching assistants.

Named the 2017 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, Lang Lang Music Foundation Young Scholar Clayton Stephenson is prize winner of the 2015 Van Cliburn Junior International Competition and 2016 Cooper International Competition. He is also a proud recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke scholarship. Born in Beijing and based in New York City, Youlan Ji is currently pursuing a degree at the Juilliard School. Jay Perez
Jay Perez is an American Tejano musician, who is known for his mixing of rhythm and blues with traditional Tejano music. Initially a drummer for Mysterio Band with Albert Castaneda, then he became a leading vocalist for Latin Breed and David Lee Garza y los Musicales. Perez began a solo career in the early 1990s and has released several solo albums. He has also won several Tejano Music Awards.[2] To his fan base, he is known as "The Voice".
